This could very well be the highlight of the 2022 vintage

Here there is enough reduction to mask the nuances of the underlying fruit so I would suggest giving this some air first

This is like rolling small pebbles around in the mouth and is a wine that should generously reward extended keeping

Having tasted both the 95 and 96 offerings I was struck by the jump in quality in the 1996 Coteaux du Layon-Chaume Les Tetueres

Weinbach, Pinot Gris Altenbourg SGN other_regions_australia (91-93)/2017+(for 375 ml.; 9. 9% alcohol, 161 g l r. s. and 10 grams of acidity) Deep yellow gold. Carnal, exotic aromas of orange blossom, game, smoke and earth. Superripe, thick and powerful, but given great penetration by almost painful acidity. Wonderfully dense and concentrated wine with a tactile, salty finish that refuses to let up. Like the '07 Riesling SGN, this is just hinting at the complexity to come. Stephen Tanzer
